Stroke affects brain: A stroke most often affects the brain. It is possible it could affect the spinal cord also. Sometimes an alternate condition named "heat stroke" is considered, this is an entirely different condition that affects fluid and electrolyte balances in the blood stream, muscles and the body's organs.
