Ghrelin and GHRH: The production of GH is triggered when GHRELIN, produced in the stomach and GH RELEASING HORMONE, produced in the hypothalamus, are ACTIVATED. These turned on hormones stimulate the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland to release the GH. GH then regulates several physiologic processes, including protein, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism; stimulates mitosis, cell differentiation and cell growth.
