It depends: General surgeons are trained in many specialties, which include thoracic, abdominal, vascular, oncology, breast, thyroid, dialysis access, hernia, gallbladder, spleen, liver, pancreas,etc. The list goes on and on. The General surgeon operates what he or she feels comfortable.
