Violations very rare: There are strong laws to prevent inappropriate disclosure of HIV status (or other medical information), including the Privacy Rule of the fedeeral Heaith Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) http://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/ All states also have their own laws, and the fines are very high, often $5,000 or more. Violations almost never happen. Contact the health dept for local details.
