A member asked:

What makes a doctor choose a certain high blood pressure medicine for his patient?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

BP: Doctors evaluate each patient and decide what medication(s) are most likely to deal with the problem with the minimum of side effects and best fit with the patient's life style. For example we would be unlikely to choose an antihypertensive that causes sleepiness for a bus driver or pilot. Cost factors come in for some patients and other factors also.
