A member asked:

What kinds of tumors are there?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Benign and malignant: Tumor refers to an overgrowth of tissue in a selected area. Benign tumors occur in the uterus as fibroids and in breast as fibroadenoma due to hormone stimulation. They do not convert or metastasize. The malignant tumors have oncogene transformations that allow rapid mitotic changes, and produce matrix metalloproteinase for invasion and telomerase activity for immortality.
