A member asked:

I don't understand why people starved as kids have higher risks as adults?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NEGLECT=HI risk: A child 'starved' is a form of neglect. Among the different groups of maltreated students, child neglect was associated with the poorest academic achievement. In some studies: more children die from neglect than from abuse (mosher, 1994). In one canadian 2 year study child neglect was a significant factor in 74% of deaths in ontario. No surprise:child neglect causes problems lasting to adulthood.
