A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several: slowing of the heart rate allows longer filling time in diastole for the heart to pump a larger volume of blood with the next heart beat. Also, as blood pressure lowering agent lower resistance for the heart to pump against improves efficiency of the "failing" heart.
