Causes of UTIs: Women are at higher risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) because of the anatomy of the genitourinary system. The germs have much better access to the urethra and therefore the bladder (and beyond!). So it's helpful to drink lots of water to keep the 'flushing' system operating normally. If you have more than 5 or 6 bladder infections a year, you really should be seeing an ID doctor who can help
