See a dentist ASAP: If you have a toothache, you may have a cavity, wisdom teeth or advanced gum disease. A tooth pain won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head and neck. You can use NSAID OTC or Tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain control. See a dentist ASAP for assessment.

The telephone: Call your Dentist to determine cause of toothache and thus the appropriate treatment. Probably infection, but may be fracture, trauma, or other causes. Will not self-heal, you need professional care. Take OTC NSAIDs as per package directions until Dentist can see you. Cold compresses may help.

Toothache: The fastest, and only, cure for a toothache is treatment by a dentist. If not treated, the cause of the toothache will only get worse, causing worse pain.

See your dentist: Regardless, schedule an appointment to see your dentist, because the tooth pain will not go away without treatment. If the dentist can't be reached and it is a true emergency, go to the nearest emergency room or take Tylenol/Advil for pain control.
