DRINK WATER: Drinking water before you eat has been shown to suppress appetite. Also whenever you feel like snacking try hydrating with a low calorie beverage because 'mild hunger pains' may actually be a signal that you need to drink fluids.

The absolute best natural appetite suppressant that I have found in my 15 years of practicing Bariatrics (weight loss medicine) is food! It is what you eat that becomes critical and that it is of high quality and is satisfying to the gut and the brain. This is what I teach all of my patient through a concept called a Sneal.

Ginger, almonds, etc: Natural appetite suppressants include 1)water, 2) ginger 3) pine nuts or almonds, 4) hot spices, 5) broth soups 6) grape seed oil. Very important to avoid appetite stimulants ( all sugars). Change habits so that you eat healthy veggies, proteins, and some fruit.

California?: Assuming we are not talking about a land from an indiana jones movie, then you want to use a combo of meds. Topiramate and Phentermine leads to >10% weight loss at one year in a majority of persons begun on it.

Depends: Depends on the patient. The most widely used is pent ermine, which has been used safely for over 50 years. It's now being used in combination w other modern medicines. Remember there's no magic pill.

Appetite suppressant: Appetite suppressants can help to reduce hunger to some degree. I would not rely on this as the major method of weight loss. Healthy food choices and exercise are the best ways to control weight. The most effective "pill" was fen-phen, and although it worked, it caused serious health risks. So, if you can, try to avoid diet pills altogether.
