Definition: Heteropsia refers to differing visual acuities between the eyes. Eg., 20/20 in the right eye and 20/50 in the left eye. Now a refraction determines what the prescription of each eye is. One eye could be farsighted & the other nearsighted, a condition called antimetropia. If the prescriptions are too far apart, anisometropia &/or anisekonia may develop, interfering with stereopsis.
