Vascular occlusion: A central retinal vein occlusion is a blockage of the main vein that drains blood out of the eye. The most common cause of a CRVO is hypertension, & controlling blood pressure is key. Other less common causes are: glaucoma, arteriosclerosis, diabetes & other bleeding disorders. Treatment therefore is directed at the underlying cause, and sometimes a cause is not discovered.
