Not much: Ritalin, (methylphenidate) the medicine used for ADHD, is surprisingly safe. The main side effect is decreased appetite. Some also report problem with sleep. If dosed too high, some kids develop mood changes and become "zombie-like", but it's not common. Adjusting the dose or switching to another medicine may decrease the side effects. None is really "dangerous".
