A member asked:

What is the treatment for respiratory syncytial virus infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Supportive: Supportive care means close monitoring of the infant for any signs of breathing problems or shortness of breath (rapid breathing more than 60 times a minute, labored breathing etc.). The doctor may decide to hospitalize the infant and administer oxygen. Other treatments may include nasal suction and nebulized albuterol. Inhaled steroids and antibiotics are not effective.
