Beta blockers: Beta blockers block beta receptors. Beta receptors are molecular structures on certain cells which when beta agonists attach to them cause effects like increased heart rate and blood pressure. The beta blockers attach and the beta agonists can't hook up and cause the increase in heart rate and blood pressure
