Multiple causes: Birth marks are quite common and their origin diverse.Some reflect familial genetic traits, some are signs of an internal genetic disorder, some are unexplained.I find it fascinating that we have generally clear and homogeneous skin at birth, given the problems that could occur. Skin changes over time from hormonal and environmental influences.
