Paraguard or tubal: Non hormonal birth control is the only type that does not increase your risk of blood clots. This includes Paraguard iud or tubal ligation. The mirena increases risk of blood clots by only a very small amount. Progesterone only birth control (depot shot, mini pill) does not increase the risk as much as the estrogen containing methods.
