UTI: You do not say who the patient is and whether there are underlying risk factors. There are some women who get frequent episodes of cystitis (lower UTI) who respond well to prophylactic antibiotics in low doses, frequently trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, but this needs to be discussed with a knowledgeable doctor in this area. See a urologist or an infectious diseases expert.
