Not usually: The hormones in the pill usually prevent the ovulating cervical mucus but they don't always block ovulation and the symptoms associated with a functional cyst and it's rupture at the time of ovulation can still occur. This is most likely with the triphasic pills and least likely with the ones with more active pills in the pack (24 vs. 21). Hope this helps.
