Not always: The Nexplanon does not necessarily always prevent ovulation. Estrogens in contraceptives are used to give you regular periods and Nexplanon has no estrogen.Progestin a provide contraception and that is the hormone in Nexplanon. Irregularly irregular bleeding is the result.The blood level is not as high as with Depo provera (medroxyprogesterone) so you don't usually get the dependable absence of bleeding.Hope this helps
