I get a sharp pain when i press a particular part of my muscle on my left arm above the elbow, it's also warmer than the other part of the arm.

Possible infection: if you have tenderness and increased warmth in that area, it is possible you may be developing a cellulitis or skin infection. Have you noticed any redness in the area? Have you had any trauma to the area, or an insect bite? Please see your doctor for further evaluation and treatment.
