Fungus: The fact that he is itching suggest the possibility of fungal infection. It would have nothing to do with the other problem you describe. Can try over-the-counter antifungal cream twice a day for two weeks. If no improvement in the week, he needs medical evaluation. Hope this helps. Best of luck
