Depends: GBS is a germ often found in the stool & female genital tract.It can cause a UTI. It's main risk is around the time of birth when your baby can become infected & suffer significant illness. GBS can come and go without treatment and oral meds now will not prevent its return later.IV antibiotics given in labor are used to protect baby if it persists
