This is most: likely a local reaction to the DTaP,not the MMR.It's unlikely that it's an infection since it occured within 24 hours. If there is no fever and it's not enlarging, you could give ibuprofen and compresses, but if it's worsening, I would see your doctor, or if they are not available, go to the ER.If you do the local treatment and it isn't better when your doctor opens next, I would call and be seen.

NO!: Its perfectly normal (the "P" pertussis vaccine can cause a "reaction" at the site of the vaccination. Apply ICE for pain if necessary! If the reaction is getting worse after 48 hours call your Pediatric Health Professional! Hope this helps Dr Z
