This might be due: to blood in stool. Was in malodorous? Please let your doctor know asap. Taking iron or Pepto Bismal can also cause black stools.

Change in bowel habi: of 12 months duration requires a formal colonoscopy and evalaution for GI illness. Please get a second GI evaluation.
