It depends: There are no withdrawal symptoms from stopping digoxin. Medical evidence suggests that there are more effective medications than digoxin for heart failure and control of heart rate or prevention of cardiac rhythm disturbances. Nevertheless, if digoxin has been helping your heart it's possible withdrawing it could worsen your condition. Speak with your physician. He or she knows you best.

Yes.: The main side effect of coming off of digoxin after 35 years is that, whatever condition you were being treated for, may return. Altho digoxin isn't used as frequently now as it once was, you should NEVER discontinue a heart medication without your doctors knowledge and consent.
