See a dermatologist: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine. It will help a rash only if it is hives. No antihistamine will help any rash unless it is due to histamine: hives. Perhaps it is allergy, but benadryl (diphenhydramine) will still not help if it is not hives. Perhaps it is eczema or a virus or something else. A dermatologist is your best chance to arrive at a precise diagnosis and thus to determine the best remedy. Forget the benadryl (diphenhydramine)

?seen and diagnosed?: Hives at that age can be triggered by foods, food additives, bug bites and illnesses. If foods or food additives, the trigger must be removed before improvement. Improvement can be slow if the food is still in babies system. Bites usually respond but hives after an illness can takes a few weeks to fade. An exam to confirm/exclude the label is important, many assume hives from a phone description.
