Up to 2 weeks : Possibly even longer than that. 40 mg is a lot to go off of all at once. It is always best to taper gradually or switch to buprenorphine

7 to 14 days.: Methadone is a very long acting opiate. It varies quite a bit between different people, but 7 to 14 days should cover it.
