A member asked:

What to do if i am taking methadone i want to stop its been 2 years 105 ml a day .is ther anything i can take for withdrawal s?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

TAPER THE METHADONE: If you stop cold turkey, you are going to feel like you have been hit by a truck for many weeks and even months. You will also very likely relapse to your drug of choice again after feeling that withdrawal day after day. The best way is to taper, ideally over at least a 90 day period. There are medications like clonidine that your doctor can prescribe, and you can treat the pain/diarrhea/nausea.
