See the orthodontist: I would go back to the dentist or orthodontist who said you needed to wait. That dentist can tell when the best time is to at least seek an evaluation. Orthodontists are more than willing to help prospective patients with these type concerns. Many orthodontists will follow up with patients for little to no fee until the time is right to pursue treatment.

Be patient: When the time is right, you'll have your orthodontic care. Regardless of how many adult teeth you have in place, it's the orthodontist that makes the final decision as to when to start treatment.

Have dentist demo: Have your dentist demonstrate either on x-rays, a photo, or a model which teeth you have that are adult and which are baby (deciduous) teeth.
