Antioxidant & happy!: Dark chocolate contains polyphenols and other flavonoids, procyanidans & antioxidants. It also contains mood-enhancing chemicals like phenylethylamine, theobromine, serotonin & anandamide. It lowers systolic blood pressure an average of 5 points & diastolic 3 points & lowers LDL cholesterol by up to 10%.Even LDL cholesterol is only dangerous when it is oxidized & chocolate prevents this.See comment:

Antioxidants: the flavonoids in dark chocolate are believed to have antioxidant effects, helping the body to repair damage from free radicals. Roughly translated, this means heart healthy. In moderation( one ounce several times per week) dark chocolate is good for you- just don't overdo it. long live 85% cocoa! Depends: Depends on the form. Most chocolate is packaged with a lot of fat and sugar, which undoes (negates) any possible protective benefit attributed to chocolate itself. As for benefits of chocolate alone, see link below.. Frankly the purported benefits (short)-term) to mood of "chocolate therapy" are undone by the effects of the weight gain (longer)!
