Jealousy can: destroy relationships as I'm sure you know. It would be helpful for you to go to counseling or group therapy so that you can be strong, resist self-doubt, stay out of the begging role. Logic does not work. Your friend may have OCD or another condition. A proper diagnosis is essential for treatment. Second opinion if necessary. Peace and good health.
