Depends: Testing for ankle arthritis begins with a phsyical exam and weight bearing xrays. At times, ct scans may be needed.

I concur with Dr. Parekh. Blood tests for inflammation may be necessary and if there is fluid in the ankle joint, aspiration of the joint fluid should be done with analysis of the fluid for diseases such as gout. Best, Nisha
