Post-viral?: Several common "cold" viruses leave behind a hang-on cough (=post-viral cough) for 2-3 (and sometimes 5) weeks. If otherwise well, your provider may consider a burst of prednisone for 3 days to try to "shut off" this response, which is closer to allergic than infectious. Good luck!
