Possible: With the initial infection of HSV (either type 1 or 2) the WBC can become elevated. During recurrences of the HSV the white cell count (WBC) will also usually increase but probably not as high as with the initial outbreak.

No: HSV is a virus and viruses cause your white count to be lower if any thing. Bacterial infections can raise the white count. Viruses can raise the percentage of white cells that are lymphocytes. Hope this helps
