I had an outbreak of hsv2 in april. a blood test yesterday showed what the doc said was "slightly elevated white blood cells". could the 2 be related?

Yes, but so what?: Conceivably the two are related, but it doesn't matter. A white blood count elevation which is only slight is not problematic per se. So it's either due to the HSV (which you already know you have) or it's due to an unidentifiable non-problem.
