Are ssri's safe?

Generally yes: SSRI's can be very effective in treating depression and anxiety. They do come with a black box warning for potential increased suicidality in teens. The key is to start at a low dose and increase slowly to reach effective dose. Close follow-up weekly the first 4 weeks is critical.

SSRIs: Generally speaking they are safe. However, all medications have side effects. Medicine that works on the brain can have serious side effects. Always take these medications as prescribed. If you have any side effects you need to contact the prescribing doctor immediately. Hope this helps
