Needs to be drained: This will not get much better over time and has a chance to get much worse. Occasionally, small boils can be lanced and drained in the office, but sometimes they get large/deep enough to need drainage in the OR. Moist heat can sometimes help a boil drain some out the top which can relieve pressure/pain.However, an office visit as soon as possible is needed.
