Cold: The hissing sound in your ear may be due to the mucus from your cold which has gotten into your middle ear through your eustachian tube

Mucous: You have a mucous accumulation in your inner ear and/or your Eustachian tubes. You can try OTC antihistamine such as Zyrtec (cetirizine) or Claritn.
