At what age do they routinely test for underactive thyroid?

Dr. Ted King answered

No routine: There probably isn't a routine age at which it is recommended that all people be tested for an underactive thyroid. However, older people can have an underactive thyroid with unusual symptoms or, essentially no symptoms at all. So many doctors will fairly routinely test their patients' thyroid functions when they are 65 or so.
