Underactive thyroid: Weight gain (usually no more than 10 to 15 pounds) and difficulty losing weight; cold intolerance; dry hair and skin; decreased sex drive; fatigue; weakness; muscle cramps; depression. Patients with mild hypothyroidism may not have any symptoms.
