Slipped Disc: A slipped or herniated disc in the cervical spine or neck can result in compression of nerves which may result in pain, numbness, tingling or even weakness of shoulders, arms, hands and fingers. If left untreated permanent losses may result. A broken neck resulting from severe trauma may result in death as it may result in halting heart and lung function but not likely from a mere "slipped disc."
