Neck injury: Traumatic neck injury is lethal. It can cause quadriplegia if the spinal cord is severely damaged or transected. If there is a small, linear fracture in the vertebral body or in the surrounding bones (lamina, spinous process, or transverse process), the fracture can heal itself over time provided that there is no spinal cord or nerve root compromise. Consult with your local spine surgeon.
