A member asked:

I wear a retainer for awaiting tooth implant.can the retainer make your teeth spread wider than they were?

Retainer: your retainer will not mode your teeth. It will prevent your teeth from moving and closing the space where your implant will be. Keep wearing it.

Normally not: Normally, a retainer worn to act as a temporary spacer awaiting an implant, will not move the other teeth apart unless it is poorly made. I would think that all is OK, so don't quit wearing it. I would call and ask your dentist to be sure.

Nothing to worry: The reason for the retainer is to keep your remaining teeth from moving and closing the spaces. If concerned, it is very important to discuss with your doctors the advantages. Nothing to worry.
