It depends: Medication efficacy depends on the symptoms you had when you started, and what you continue to have after the therapeutic window. It is usually recommended that you give an antidepressant 6-8 weeks to see if it is working. If your symptoms have not, or have minimally improved, a dosage adjustment is reasonable. The usual therapeutic dose of Lexapro (escitalopram) is 10 mg. But you have to give any med time.

Give Doctor a chance: On your next visit when the doctor asks how you're doing on your medication then, that's when you tell him the problems and see the response you got.

Symptoms: If you are still having significant symptoms of anxiety or depression then you may need to increase the dosage. If you have been on it less than 6 weeks then wait and see.
