Leg pain: Can he walk? Bear weight? Any areas over where it hurts that seem abnormally warm? If he's not having fever, and he can walk and has normal strength, if there are no areas of heat/swelling then I say you can monitor. If any of those are not true then at the very least you need to put a call into the pediatrician's office and speak with the doctor on-call.
