Possibly: Melatonin can be used safely and effectively in children with primary sleep disorders, but if this is an adjustment issue with your toddler, it would be wiser to try other methods to get him sleepy. In any event, make sure your pediatrician is part of the treatment plan, with or without melatonin

That's 4 peds 2 say: Need to ask the pediatrician to help infant get to sleep. Are you sure that your child is not getting the sleep he/she really needs to function adequately? Often we want to force people to sleep to satisfy our needs or perceptions THAT they NEED sleep when in fact, they're getting plenty of sleep. If the child is refreshed & has normal play next day then, things are better than you think.
