When does a child need a children's multivitamin?

Multivits in kids: You will likely get a range of answers for this question, but I generally recommend that parents use a multivitamin at 1-2 years of age, and that it include adequate amounts of Vitamin D.

In NJ, there is no: fluoride in the water, so it is recommended that children here take an oral fluoride supplement. It can be given separately, but generally is included with a multivitamin and is a prescription. The dose of fluoride varies by age, and these are given until all the permanent teeth are in, so most of my patients are on a multivitamin until around the age of 12.
