A member asked:

What is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Graves' disease: Hi. Graves' disease is the most common. This is followed by subacute thyroiditis, which is followed by "toxic" (misnomer...not poisonous) or "hot" (misnomer...they're body temp) nodule(s). In there, you have to factor iatrogenic...usually thyroid cancer patients we deliberately make biochemically hyperthyroid. But good ol' Graves' is definitely in 1st place! Good luck!
